2024 Porsche Macan EV

Together with the configurator, the 2024 Porsche Macan EV is now available. That indicates, as you can imagine, that it’s time to begin creating your ideal electric Porsche SUV! Okay, so your ideal Porsche would be a 911 GT3 or something like, but navigating through the Macan’s configurator is almost as much pleasure.

At the Macan’s price range, the degree of customisation is unparalleled, as is typical with Porsche. Though we were able to construct Macans for far more than $150,000 provided all the requirements were met, the price can vary greatly. For some context, the starting price of Porsche’s most costly trim level, the Turbo, is $106,950.

Make sure to scroll down to see how the other editors chose to spec their Macans for some design inspiration, and feel free to create one for yourself using this link. Pre-consulting the Paint-To-Sample catalogue aside, the external colour scheme is outstanding, and the interior colours are skillfully coordinated. We can only expect to see Macans who fully utilise the configurator’s capabilities on the road at some point in the future.

Road Test Editor, Zac Palmer When it came to building my Macan, I chose the Turbo because money was not an object. I chose Frozen Blue Metallic because I like it somewhat more than Provence, even though the purple (Provence) was really alluring. Starting at $7,410, I go on an outrageous shopping spree that only gets worse when I get my hands on the 22-inch Exclusive Design Wheels with Aeroblades in Carbon Fibre. But don’t hold it against me—the truly alluring Porsche configurator is to blame.

Because I don’t like how much black trim there is all over the lower part of the car, I decided to paint the side blades and all model designations in an exterior colour instead of the standard black. I also chose the Offroad Design Package in Exterior Colour to bring the gorgeous Frozen Blue Metallic into the lower front bumper, rear fascia, and side skirts. I then ensured that, in order to give the car a more balanced appearance, more black trim was added higher up. I chose to paint the door handles, roof rails, mirrors, and window trim in black.

For an additional $2,570, I kept the interior simple with a two-tone leather interior of black and limestone beige, but I spent a whopping $4,730 to add black centres to the limestone beige seats and asymmetric stitching throughout. Porsche’s Summerwood trim maintains a sense of class, and I had the seatbelts matched to the Limestone Beige leather. Regarding other expensive choices, I accepted the Sport Chrono package, Electric Sport Sound, and rear axle steering (which came with a steep $2,040 surcharge). These days, even Michigan gets a lot of smoke from wildfires, so I also incorporated amenities like the AR HUD, Burmester sound system, Porsche’s InnoDrive, and air purifying system. Last but not least, I decided on the Atlanta Experience Centre delivery since it seems like a great way to start out with the new electric Macan—an electric road trip. I paid $140,940 total for my Macan. Even though that’s crazy, I would really love to possess this vehicle.

Greg Rasa, managing editor: Porsche configurators are similar to confection shops. When you first walk in, you plan to buy one item, but the store has a lot more tempting items, so you’re surprised when you see the cash register. Even though I knew I would still be stunned at the end of the queue, I tried to create a modest Macan EV by choosing the base 4 model and trying to be picky about my options.

Oak Green Metallic Neo costs $2,490. The ride and range will be improved on 20-inch wheels, and the stock wheels look well enough. Presumably pleather than the standard black interior? Not stated by the configurator. It displays significantly more expensive leather selections.

Matching black model markings ($270), door handles ($350), and mirror caps ($600) add to the unique Macan aesthetic of the side blades ($680). Bike racks, etc. require a factory trailer hitch receiver ($660). The items that cost $1,990 include the midrange Bose sound system, stainless steel pedals, door sill protectors, leather wheel and shifter, and inside wood trim. In conclusion, the Sport Chrono Package ($980) and projector puddle lights ($330) add a little something extra.

I have $89,320 in my candy sack. Well, I didn’t spend more than $90k!

Since the Porsche Design chronograph has a bezel with accent colour and band stitching that matches the car, I might as well add it if I’m that invested. All that’s extra is $6,881.

Byron Hurd, associate editor: A 1995 VW Passat GLX, with a stick shift, was my first vehicle. It was green over tan. Even though the car wasn’t inherently excellent, I still cherished it. Unfortunately, everyone seems to have forgotten this combination existed around 2001, thus it was the final mid-1990s car I’ve owned and also the last one with green over tan. I will definitely be partying like it’s 1999.

This Macan and my VR6-powered Volkswagen are almost completely different from one another, save from the colour scheme. Fortunately, this is not the case, as the Macan’s available power would tear apart the outdated B4 Passat chassis like a piece of wet tissue. Moreover, the cost of the options on this Macan alone ($20,140) would have almost purchased a base model Passat in 1995. Options included the carbon fibre mirror caps, 18-way sport seats, heated leather GT Sports wheel, Burmester audio, Porsche crest embossments on the headrests, alloy wheels, interior in “Club Leather,” and the Sport Chrono package with the Porsche Design second clock. Alright, sue me? It’s a pretty cool stuff.

Total with options? $127,090. Sheesh.

Joel Stocksdale is the news editor. Since even basic Porsches are fun to drive and don’t always require a lot of power to have a good time, I had every intention of making a wonderful Macan 4. However, given the weight of EVs and their increased perceived fun factor, along with the Macan 4’s initial high price, I gave in and built the Turbo.

Nonetheless, I would select the same stylistic options for both models. I enjoy interesting colour schemes, therefore Copper Ruby Metallic and the pink debut colour Provence were a little difficult for me to decide between. Choosing the metallic option, I thought it would look especially well on the Macan’s curves and it would also slightly muffle the pink. Both hues go well with Blackberry, another soft pink-ish colour I chose for my home. I added some wood trim on it to add some warmth. And before I forget, I chose the 22-inch Macan Sport wheels because they remind me a little bit of the classic Fuchs wheels found on early 911s.

My list of options is really modest, with performance and functionality being the primary considerations, aside from some aesthetic decisions. I opted not to purchase the pricey clock add-on, but I did add rear-wheel steering and the Sport Chrono Package. Next, I selected the heated windscreen and rear wiper, which are excellent additions in Detroit. Ultimately, since I prefer having my information in front of me, I went with the large head-up display option. My entire cost, including destination, came to $119,520 as I had $12,570 worth of options.

CEO and chief editor Greg Migliore Choosing a Macan in a similar shade was inspired by my long-standing fondness for dark green Porsches, reminiscent of Robert Redford’s 1968 911 in the spy game film. Are you sure it’s electric? One more incentive to follow Rasa’s example and go green. To further enhance the retro ambiance, I would go for the $3,820 optional club leather truffle in brown colour. The 14-way adjustable “comfort” seats, LED matrix headlights, and 22-inch Porsche Design wheels were additional features I desired. Although I might not have chosen the heated windscreen if I were writing this in May, I did so because it is currently frigid. For $96,890, I’m walking out. Not too terrible.
